About Filing Flows

Filing Flows draws every earnings filing on SEC EDGAR as a Sankey chart: where a company's revenue comes from, what it costs, what is left as profit and how much of it turns into cash.

What it is

Filing Flows (filing-flows.com) is an independent website run by an individual developer. It reads US companies' 10-Q and 10-K reports and earnings releases and gives each company a page with its latest quarter drawn as a Sankey, the change from a year and a quarter earlier, and its quarterly history. It covers 4,198 US-listed companies. Alongside the earnings charts it follows 13F fund holdings, officials' stock trades and 8-K events.

Where the numbers come from

Every figure comes from SEC EDGAR: the XBRL financial data companies file with the SEC and the filing documents themselves. The site checks EDGAR every 15 minutes and redraws a company's page when it files. Each company page links to the filing it was read from. Company descriptions and the notes on chart lines are quoted from the filings.

How the charts and text are made

The charts are drawn from the reported numbers. The analysis paragraphs are produced by fixed rules from those numbers; no language model is involved. Figures are read automatically, so errors are possible: when a number looks wrong, the filing linked on the page is the authority. The Method page explains how each line of a chart is built.

Follow and share

New charts are posted every day on X: @FilingFlows. Every chart is free to share with a link to its page, and each company page has an embed code for blogs and newsletters.

Not investment advice

Filing Flows is not affiliated with the SEC or with any company it covers. Nothing on the site is investment advice.
